unfinished memories
AktuellNowMemories are never finalised. They change over time; they are passed on, added to, overwritten or forgotten. What is remembered always depends on who is telling the story, who is listening, and from which present perspective the past is viewed.
In March 2026, artists from Bosnia and Herzegovina and Germany came together in Sarajevo for a week. A sound walk with Haris Sahačić, an architectural history tour focusing on the siege, a studio visit to Aida Šehović and an excursion to Srebrenica and Potočari opened up new perspectives on the city’s layers.
‘unfinished memories’ continues this process in Düsseldorf. Sixteen works explore memory as something unfinished: as something that emerges and evolves between personal experience and collective history. The exhibition brings together these perspectives without merging them into a single narrative.
